West Texas Desert

West Texas Desert

West Texas Desert is a reflective collection that explores the strength and resiliency of living things in the setting of the Texas desert.

It draws inspiration from the wild shapes and muted colors that make up the sparsely-populated landscape and explores the beauty in the harsh details.

The collection started on-site in Terlingua, Texas, with the carving of “Creosote Study” and “View from Camp”. These blocks were sketched and carved while camping, and were printed once I returned to the studio. On-site work captures a unique perspective as other influences are removed once you are surrounded by the environment.

Back in the studio, I finished out the collection by working with studies in desert flora and fauna and further exploring landscapes in muted yellows, pinks, blues and greens.
